Make A Wish Foundation Charity Photoshoot

Donating my time and skills to Make A Wish Foundation was an easy choice!

A few months ago, Make A Wish Foundation of South Carolina approached me about donating my time and skills. It was a rather easy choice for me considering the mission and vision of this beautiful organization. The first project we worked together on was headshots for the staff in South Carolina. We organized a day for all of their support staff in South Carolina to meet at their headquarters in Greenville to have their headshots taken. Here’s a little sneak peek:

Photoshoot with NASA Astronaut Terry Virts in Greenville, SC

It’s not often you get to hang out with an astronaut- if ever.

But that’s exactly what I got to do when NASA Astronaut Terry Virts came to Greenville, South Carolina on his National Geographic Live tour- promoting his book, “View From Above.” We had a photoshoot before his event, in which we were able to get some “normal” shots done in a suit and dress clothes. He broke out his NASA Jacket right before the show, and we were able to capture a few shots with my mobile studio backstage.

Here’s an excerpt from the Nat Geo Website, “Sometimes, a little distance is all you need to see things in a brand new way. For astronaut Terry Virts, his newfound perspective was from the International Space Station (ISS), where he installed the Cupola module, granting an unprecedented 360- degree view from the station. When he later became the commander of the ISS, he made good use of the Cupola, taking more photographs than any astronaut who came before him. Many of those images were later used in the National Geographic book View From Above and IMAX film A Beautiful Planet, but to hear Virts tell it, no photo can capture the perfect shade of blue from a sunrise viewed from outer space.”

Stephen and Kinsey - Wedding in Rural Indiana

Stephen and Kinsey had a beautiful wedding in the countryside of Bryant, Indiana area. I go back with Stephen at least four to six years- we randomly met in Boston through mutual friends. We kept in touch a little bit over the years, and saw each other at random weddings, get togethers etc. When his bride to be Kinsey got in touch with me, I was honored they asked me to photograph their wedding. They were living in LA (and still are), but the wedding was going to be in Kinsey’s hometown.

I flew into Fort Wayne, Indiana the day before the wedding. We had a celebration and get together that evening and it was absolutely fantastic to be there. Kinsey and Stephen’s family are truly special, loving, kind, joyful and heartfelt people. Both of them have lovely families that are very supportive.

The next day was the wedding day, which was beautiful day. Kinsey got ready at her parents house while Stephen suited up at a nearby estate. I love the fact that as the photographer, I get to meet the closest friends and family of the bride and groom AND spend the MOST time with them on their wedding day. I get to be the one to capture their most precious moments, tears, kisses, and the exchanging of vows. This experience creates a special friendship that I get to have with my couples. I have brides who contact me out of the blue reminding me how they still look at the photos and are just so thankful to have them. What I get to capture is so important for my couples. It’s truly and honor that all these people trust me to create visual memories that they will have for the rest of their lives. Photography is so powerful, and I’m so thankful that I get to be one of the people who snap the photos.

Below is a (mainly) chronological display of the wedding festivities. You can click them to make them larger.

Mountain Goat - Greenville, SC Coffee Shop

Mountain Goat Coffee shop in Greenville, South Carolina

Is a beautiful new shop in the Poe Mill neighborhood- serving a local roster, Methodical Coffee. Mountain Goat’s mission from their website states, “People in the Upstate who are passionate about the outdoors find community at The Mountain Goat. We equip people for adventures, teach clinics, share stories over tasty drinks and, most importantly, provide a path to the outdoors for at-risk kids who can’t get there themselves. Our goal is to help everyone from every background learn to enjoy the outdoors.”

Daniel and Sarah - Engagement Session at Caesars Head and Bald Rock - Greenville, South Carolina

Daniel and Sarah’s Engagement session in the mountains was gorgeous!

This past Sunday evening, we made our way up the mountain from Greenville to Caesars Head and Bald Rock. Daniel and Sarah are some of the funniest people I know to be around! We had a pretty laid back photoshoot that incorporated a mix of candids and nearly posed shots. I wanted to capture their quirkiness, and I think that’s JUST what happened :) I don’t think I’ve laughed as much with a couple! They are so fun to be around, and I’m so glad I was able to capture them this past weekend. Here’s a few glimpses:
